Tolls suspended in parts of Florida ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia

In preparing for Tropical Storm Idalia, Gov. Ron DeSantis has suspended tolls on Florida's west coast. Effective 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, tolls will be waived for seven days in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Pasco, Pinellas, Sumter counties, and parts of Orange County.

The suspension covers key transportation facilities and aims to facilitate safe evacuations. FDOT and FTE will oversee the toll waiver, reinstating tolls on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at noon.

Facilities included in the suspension:

FDOT previously relaxed vehicle size and weight limits for emergency response. They have also deployed 525 crew members and 210 pieces of equipment for post-storm road safety.
